Addax Petroleum provides electricity to seven villages in the Gabonese Doubanga and Dourembou districts

Caring for the development and welfare of communities surrounding its areas of operation, Addax Petroleum Oil & Gas Gabon (APOGG) initiated an electrification project a year ago, benefiting seven villages in the Doubanga and Dourembou districts.

The project was launched as part of the company's social investment programme and includes the provision of 22kVA generators to each village, street lighting, as well as the implementation of an electric power network supplying over one hundred homes across the two districts. In addition, the company in charge of the electrification work will provide technical assistance to these communities to get started.

An official ceremony in presence of Mr Raymond Bimboundza, Prefect of the Ndolou department and Mr Marcel Madouta Birangou, President of the Ndolou County Council was organised on August 11, 2016. They both thanked APOGG for the completion of the project.

A second phase of the project will include the reinforcement of the existing power systems with solar-powered equipment. Both this programme and the drinking water supply project (in development phase) will be financed by the dedicated Fonds de concours pour le Développement des Communautés Locales (FDCL).
